De Studio was founded by Tim Hooijmans and Kay Hooijmans to have complete control over the design, engineering, and manufacturing of custom light fixtures, without relying on established brands or third-party manufacturers. We are located in The Netherlands and specialize in making light fixtures in series, all made in Europe. Our small and dedicated team is committed to sustainability and uses an industrial and scalable approach. Our fixtures are constructed without glue, paint, coatings, or welding and are completely repairable, easy to recycle and repurpose. We are proud to be transparent and honest in our processes. Nothing to hide, relentlessly honest.

We have collaborated with OMA/AMO to develop sustainable fixtures for Stone Island's new stores worldwide. For the Vienna store we've suspended the fixtures together with an integrated driver to show off the original vaulted ceiling. The purpose driven and energy efficient design minimizes environmental impact.

Off White Paris chandeliers
OMA/AMO and Off White
We crafted 7 custom chandeliers with OMA/AMO for Off White Paris on rue de Saint Honore. Each chandelier consists of a grid of 225 hand-polished aluminum tubes fitted with diffusers, emitting a soft white glow. Our open-grid design allows for easy assembly and repair, while the polished body blends in and stands out at the same time. We also developed a tailored shipping process with custom crates and a specialized courier overseeing the end-to-end delivery.
